The reviewed collection is devoted to current and poorly studied problems of socio-political, economic and cultural development of such Commonwealth countries as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, as well as the evolution of the colonial policy of Great Britain. The authors include specialists from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Irkutsk and Magnitogorsk State Universities, Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University named after V. P. Astafyev, Siberian Federal University, and others. According to the idea of the executive editor of the collection E. A. Babaev, this publication can become a serial publication for publishing the results of scientific research of scientists engaged in this topic.
The collection opens with an introductory article by V. I. Vorobyov (Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical Institute). un-t) " A special period of the colonial history of England (50s-60s of the XIX century)". In it, the author introduces the reader to the changes

in the policy of Great Britain towards the "white" colonies, aimed at granting them greater independence and eventually led to the emergence of the first British dominions - Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Newfoundland and the Union of South Africa.
In the article by A. S. Petrikovskaya (IV RAS) " Australia in the regional cultural field. Asian Horizons " examines the problems of Australia as a conductor of European culture in the South Pacific sub-region. The author shows the place of Oriental studies in the system of Australian science, culture and education, examines in detail the development of Asian diasporas and analyzes the problem of the "yellow danger" in the history of Australia from different angles.
In the article by A.V. Budenkova (Sib. Fed. Krasnoyarsk State University) "Conflicts between Australia and the United States in the field of trade in agricultural goods, 1983-2004" notes that the main friction between the two countries was in the field of trade in sugar, meat and dairy products and wheat, and concludes that " conflicts between Australia and the United States in the field of trade in agricultural goods... they arose mainly due to the restriction of access of Australian goods to the American market and the struggle for sales markets of third countries " (p. 70).
Article by A. I. Pankratov (Krasnoyarsk ped. uni-t) "Dominion Lands Act" and the development of Western Canada in the late XIX-early XX centuries " is devoted to the analysis of the country's agricultural legislation in the 1870s - 1900s. The author notes that Canada was one of the first countries that could find the most democratic solution to the agrarian issue, and connects this with the need for a speedy solution of the problem. development of the western territories.
G. I. Luzyanin (Magnitogorsk State University) in his article "Soviet-Canadian relations and the Comintern in 1921-1943" examines the negative impact of the Canadian Communist Party's ties with the ECCI on bilateral relations in general and on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the USSR and Canada in particular. It should be noted that the source base of this work is entirely based on the materials of the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History.
The article by E. A. Babaev (Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical Institute) is very informative. un-t) "Canada and international organizations in the 70s of the XX century", in which the author analyzes Canada's relations with such international organizations as the UN, NATO, Commonwealth, Francophonie, GATT (now WTO). Moreover, he pays considerable attention to the characteristics of various Canadian aid programs for developing countries in Asia and Africa.
Of great interest to orientalists is the article by N. N. Puzyni (Siberian Institute of Law, Economics and Management, Irkutsk) "Japan's policy in the South Pacific sub-region in the 70s-80s of the XX century", which analyzes the problems of relations between the Asian technology leader and Australia and New Zealand. The author concludes that "it was in the 1970s and 1980s that Japan's interaction with the countries of the South Pacific region at the regional level and in international organizations was characterized by greater independence in determining goals and priorities" (p.174).
The article by A. A. Suchkova (Siberian Institute of Law, Economics and Management, Irkutsk) "Korean-New Zealand interstate relations in the second half of the XX - beginning of the XXI century" highlights the main stages, factors and problems of relations between these two Far Eastern states.
Thus, the presented collection summarizes the works of well-known and young scientists, including those dealing with the problems of international relations in the Asia-Pacific region and representing various research centers, mostly universities in Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk. For specialists in the Far East, the research of young Siberian historians on contemporary problems of relations between the Anglo-Saxon and Asian countries of the region is undoubtedly of great interest.
Given the possible serial nature of the publication, I would like to draw attention to its individual shortcomings, which may be eliminated in future editions.
It is desirable that the collection of articles opens with a preface, in which the potential reader could get acquainted with the main problems of modern Russian dominion studies. It is necessary to expand the geography of research, including South Asia and Africa. However, these shortcomings do not in any way call into question the scientific value of the reviewed collection. Its publication is an important event for the development of historical science in the region. Fairly complete abstracts of articles in English make the content of the publication accessible not only to Russian, but also to foreign readers.
