On May 3, 2011, a prominent scientist, a well-known orientalist, prof. Anatoly I. Dinkevich was born in 1923 in Kiev. He received a higher education in Oriental studies. The topic of his PhD thesis was: "War finance of Japan (1937-1945)", doctorate, defended in 1965, - "Finance of post-war Japan". Anatoly Iosifovich, a participant of the Great Patriotic War, devoted many years of his life to strengthening the armed forces of the Motherland. After joining the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1956, A. I. Dinkevich began to study specific problems of the growing process of decolonization. The group created by him to study the problems of public finances in Asian countries has begun to study the tax and credit systems of foreign trade in Asian countries. By the early 1970s, A. I. Dinkevich managed to organize a Department of Financial and Economic Problems at the Institute of Oriental Studies and lead a team of talented researchers. A. I. Dinkevich created a new scientific direction for Russian Oriental studies in those years. He published more than 100 fundamental papers. Some of them have been translated into foreign languages. His works on the economy and finance of Japan, such as" The Economy of Post-war Japan (1945-1955) " and others, have become classics. Under his editorship, he published collective scientific works "Public finances of non-socialist Asian countries", "Current problems of the Asian economy", "Credit and credit systems of Asian countries", etc. A. I. Dinkevich's works are distinguished by their depth, objectivity, and ability to abstract from the political situation. Anatoly Iosifovich will be remembered not only as a major scientist and organizer of research, but also as a talented teacher who raised dozens of young scientists who continue to develop his scientific school. page 217 Over many years of research in transition (developing) economies, he has accumulated vast experience and analytical tools that have allowed him to give accurate diagnoses of the ills of the Russian economy, which itself has turned into a developing, transitional one. A. I. Dinkevich summarized this experience in his last remarkable monograph " New Economy: Methodology and Models "(Moscow, 2010). Shortly before his death, a team of economists from the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences congratulated A. I. Dinkevich on his new creative success and called him "a born researcher devoted to science." Anatoly Iosifovich Dinkevich with a fine sense of humor, a wonderful, sympathetic and cheerful person will remain in our memory.
